Malta has a rich calendar of events, making it the perfect destination for young adults. There’s always something going on and the huge variety of restaurants, bars and entertainment only add to the choice of things to do.
There are plenty of clubbing venues to choose from throughout the year. The main clubbing district for those over 18 is Paceville in St Julian’s, a relaxed area that comes alive after dark. Further along the coast, Café del Mar is an idyllic seaside bar that’s perfect for partying during the summer months.
Malta’s festival scene attracts world-famous DJs like Diplo, Jamie XX, Heidi and Chase and Status. Numerous high calibre artists have performed in Malta as there is an abundant entertainment and festival offering, including: Annie Mac’s Lost & Found, Isle of MTV, Glitch, Creamfields, Tomorrowland Unite and Earth Garden.

Valletta Baroque Festival
The annual Valletta International Baroque Festival celebrates the city’s establishment at the height of the baroque period and honours its vital role in European history. Each day of the fortnight long festival features the best soloists and ensembles in the baroque music scene at different breathtaking venues across the city.
Malta Marathon, Go Sport Attard 10k
Whether you want to spectate or take part in the races, these running events are guaranteed to have a great atmosphere. The races get bigger year on year, with 2019 set to feature a record number of participants.

Nickelodeon Treasure Hunt
Perfect for families, the Nickelodeon Treasure Hunt lets children see their favourite characters up close and personal as they explore the attractions and experiences around the Maltese islands.
Malta International Fireworks Festival
(24, 27 and 30th April and 4th May)
The annual Malta International Fireworks Festival, held in Valletta’s Grand Harbour and various other locations, takes place to commemorate Malta’s accession into the European Union on 1st May 2004.
Annie Mac Presents… Lost & Found
Celebrating its five-year anniversary in 2019, AMP Lost and Found is a four day festival hosted by legendary DJ and television presenter, Annie Mac. Kickstart the European festival season with four days of all night raves, pool parties and sunset beach soirées. Guests can lose themselves in the music near open-air stages and catch a boat party or two. Previous headliners include Seth Troxler, MK, Disclosure and Stormzy.

Old favourites perform alongside first timers in this local green-finger festival that advocates care for the environment through art, music and culture.
Abode On The Rock
For the second year running, festival-goers will be able to experience wild boat parties and visit quirky after dark venues, all soundtracked by ABODE’s perfectly curated playlist, led by Danny Howard, Richy Ahmed and Solardo.
Malta International Arts Festival
(29 June – 13th July)
The Malta International Arts Festival provides a platform for established and emerging Maltese artists to showcase their work and engage with broader audiences. Each year, the festival enriches the cultural calendar with a host of events including virtuoso music performances, visual installations, dance and well-established international acts performing at various venues in and around Valletta.
Isle Of MTV
Every year, for one day only, MTV Europe brings artists together from all over the world to perform for guests. This open air-festival is completely free to attend. Alongside live music, it offers great views of the Mediterranean Sea.
Malta Jazz Festival
One of Malta’s longest-running festivals, this highly acclaimed festival showcases local and international talent in the city of Valletta. The jazz performances, concerts and events are spread out over three days.
Unite With Tomorrowland
In 2017, Belgian festival, Tomorrowland, came to Malta for the first time to showcase live performances by local and international DJ’s on the UNITE stage. It has a truly unique, magical atmosphere, made all the more impressive by the simultaneous Tomorrowland festivals going on elsewhere in the world.
Summer Daze Malta
Launched by Creamfields and BBC R1 for the first time last year, Summer Daze Festival will hit the shores again in 2019. Previous artists on the line-up include pop star, Rita Ora and DJ and record producer, Martin Garrix.
Glitch Festival takes place at Gianpula fields, framed against the skyline of Malta’s fortified city, Mdina. From day to night, electronic music enthusiasts can listen to industry favourites on stage and rave to the beats of house, disco, techno, acid and electro.
The Malta Carnival is a five-day celebration featuring colourful floats, flamboyant costumes, masks and heavy make-up. The heart of the action takes place in Bugibba, where crowds gather during the parade and party until the early hours of the morning.
Every year, Notte Bianca festival recognises the epitome of Maltese culture, people and arts. For one night only, free entry is granted by State palaces and museums across Valletta for visual art exhibitions and theatrical performances, meanwhile local and international musicians and dancers perform in the city’s streets.
Birgufest Birgu By Candlelight
As one of Malta’s most ancient cities, Birgu is bursting with architectural delights. During Birgufest, the network of meandering narrow streets are lined with thousands of candles, transforming the picturesque city into a sparkling celebration.
Mdina Classics Car Race
Car enthusiasts rejoice! This four-day Malta Classic event, hosted in Mdina, celebrates vintage style and speed against a historic backdrop.
The Rolex Middle Sea Race
A spectacle not to be missed, the Rolex Middle Sea yachting race takes place in the heart of the Mediterranean. It features one of the most beautiful routes in the world, starting and finishing in Valletta’s magnificent Grand Harbour.
The Three Palaces
The Three Palaces Festival is fast becoming an important appointment in Malta’s cultural calendar. The annual week long music and arts festival is filled with performances set in historically important and magnificent buildings.
